Our call is to foster fruitful Christian workers in limited access nations. We do so by providing leadership development, debriefing, and spiritual direction and through facilitating residential and wilderness retreats.
A Space for Renewal
Place of Springs is a four-bedroom villa, nestled in seven acres of peaceful Andalusian countryside, designed to be a haven of rest and renewal. Over the next three years we will expand this space by transforming an outbuilding into a cozy family studio and installing three tiny homes on the property, creating room enough for up to 15 guests. While we work toward making that dream a reality, we are temporarily using adjacent holiday accommodations for group retreats.
“Oh, what joy for those who dwell in this house! And fun for those who come to visit! What a joy for us to be able to taste and see the Lord’s goodness here!”

Christ-Centered Formation
Our Christian faith is the foundation of all that we do at Place of Springs, and though we continue to grow and be formed, we hold close to six central faith statements.
Our Statement of Faith
Nature & Character of God
We believe that God is a triune exchange of love between God the Creator and Originator, Jesus who is God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Out of this ever-flowing fellowship of love, humanity was conceived and this is the beginning of a meta narrative that encompasses the unified story of scripture. Our human lives are located in the context of this grand drama of the purposes of God.
Nature of Humanity & Sin
We believe that God made men and women in God’s image, endowing humanity with a dignity and honour that is intrinsic to our nature. We believe there is an image-bearing quality to every dimension of our being, in ways we may hardly grasp. We believe the nature of sin is our corporate and individual tendency to choose our own wisdom over God’s. This sinful nature has resulted in us being ‘bent over’ and oriented away from the ‘true north’ of God and God's ways. Disorder, distortion, and scarcity are the result of humankind’s sinful choices.
Jesus the Saviour
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit together purposed that the Son would become Christ, the Messiah. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin Mary. Thus incarnated, he lived as a man, died a criminal’s death, and was resurrected in his body, finally ascending to be seated again with the Father. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is the hope, salvation, and promise to all humankind, that through him we may be reconciled to the Father so that, through the work of the Holy Spirit, we can live as people of God in the world.
The Kingdom is Here
Through the victory of Jesus over sin and death, God is establishing God’s kingdom. We see the kingdom of God wherever people are living as though Jesus is Lord. The rule and reign of God always bring about the comprehensive flourishing of humankind, what Skye Jethani (author, speaker, consultant, and ordained pastor) describes as order, beauty, and abundance. It is part of our vocational calling to make our unique contribution to the lived expression of the kingdom in every area of society. This means that no matter what our job or position in society, we become God’s missional people whose very lives speak of the Good News of Jesus.
Relational Nature of Formation
The first place we see God’s kingdom coming is in our personal and community life. That is, as we grow to know and follow Christ, our lives are changed in real ways. Our lives come into order so that our habits and patterns are no longer ‘bent over’ but straightened out. This happens as we become obedient to scripture, as we pursue personal spiritual disciplines, and as we practice prayer, worship, and shared sacraments in the context of the community of faith. Our transformation is made possible through the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. All of our formation is relational, which is to say we change in the context of our relationships and we need one another in order to grow. The church, then, is called to be both a place of formation and a place of invitation.
The Kingdom is Coming
We live in this in-between era when God’s kingdom is here and yet has not fully come. While we experience the dislocation of this current age and the suffering inherent to our broken state, we nevertheless look with hopeful anticipation towards the full coming of his kingdom - the return of King Jesus and the reordering of all things according to God’s good design. We will be co-heirs with Jesus and therefore we can now be those who speak hope and healing to our disordered world.
Values
hospitality
The real gift of hospitality lies in the connections that form between us as we gather in fellowship. Hospitality is a gift we offer to others: a gift of friendship and welcome, of listening and shared understanding. As we listen attentively and adapt to the needs and desires of our guests, we remember that God listens to us with the same tenderness and care. In sharing stories, we are reminded of our common humanity and deep need for God’s grace and healing. Hospitality is not about preaching, correcting or condemning. It's about receiving others as Christ received us; wholeheartedly and unreservedly, no matter our state, mistakes
or imperfections.
creativity
At Place of Springs, we value creativity. Whether baking bread or writing poetry, turning wood or painting pictures, we believe that creativity can awaken us to the presence of God. We guide people through artistic expression, allowing them to process their past and listen inwardly, connecting with God more deeply. Time and time again, we find that creativity helps people express internal realities for which they did not yet have words.
nature
We aim to support believers’ spiritual journeys by facilitating encounters with God in nature to strengthen and enable people to be more effective in their lives and mission. Tim trained as a mountain guide with the British Mountaineering Council, allowing him to lead groups on reflective hiking retreats that become opportunities for growth in Christ through creation. Tim leads those in ministry and leadership from challenging situations who are searching for new and deeper ways to connect with God.
