journeying deeper:

spiritual rhythms for lent & for life

What is the rhythm that anchors your life in a place of peace, in the midst of activities, concerns and commitments? Responding to this question is a key part of the Journeying Deeper days being offered through the season of Lent.  Imagine setting aside 3 hours for each of the 6 weeks leading up to Easter … what fresh thing might take place in your life simply by choosing to use this key season in the year to orientate yourself towards what will bring you life?!

And imagine if you didn’t have to do this alone but could be accompanied by others … people who could share from their own life journeys and from the ancient practices of God-seekers through history. How might this become an opportunity for some deeper experience of yourself, of community, and of God?

If you want to lean into Lent in ways that make it a meaningful gateway into a deeper season of faith, then head to this form for more information about the Journeying Deeper series and to register

The series takes place for 6 consecutive Wednesdays, beginning on Ash Wednesday 5 March. The schedule runs from 2pm to 5:15pm UK (you'll need to be all set to go at that time, so joining the call 5-10 minutes early is a good idea).

After a devotion to settle us into the theme of the day, we'll go into the shorter of two ‘listening groups.’ These groups are different from other small groups you may have experienced and will be comprised of four participants plus a spiritual director. The group does not change, you are with the same people each time (this is why you'll need to commit to each of the six days). This first listening group is an opportunity to hear from one another about how you are coming to the day and how the previous week went, including your experience of any new practice you've been trying out.

Then we go into session 1 which is content based. This session offers you the underpinning for the day's theme. After this session, we'll take a short break, followed by the presentation of a resource related to the day's theme that you might find helpful to seek out in your own time. Session 2 follows and is practice based, offering you guidance for how to 'live into' the theme of the day with the help of particular spiritual practices. Our longer listening group follows, so you have time to share your personal response to the day's learning including any hesitations or concerns. We close as a large group with a check-in, a reminder of the week's practice and prayer.

This is not an academic program and is not about getting things 'right.' It is focused on developing a truly life-giving and supportive rhythm in the context of our real lives that helps us pay attention to the presence and action of God with us. It is designed for those in ministry with YWAM and our numbers are limited by the 10 spiritual directors who are generously joining us to facilitate listening groups of four people each.
